What is the Holy Spirit? – How can we receive it?

Sharper Image 087THE HOLY SPIRIT
What is the Holy Spirit?
How can we receive the Holy Spirit?

How can we know whether we have the Holy Spirit?

You know not where it comes from nor where it came, but it brings forth all truth and understanding to mind and teaches you. It is also referred to as the “COMFORTER”. The “Holy Spirit is the “Mind of God and his Power” and it has the ability to unit with the Spirit God gave man when we were born with that placed life within our flesh. The Holy Spirit gives you the power to overcome the flesh and overcome evil doings. The Holy Spirit causes you to think on those things which are good and righteous, pure and true, not to dwell and think on those things which are evil and of the world. The Holy Spirit directs you on the path of receiving eternal life. You will live forever, like the promise God gave to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden,  “IF”  they had eaten of the “TREE OF LIFE.”

“The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.”

John 3:8  “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

John 3:3  “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.”

In John chapter 3, the example is given in a conversation between Jesus, our Savior and Nicodemus, where Nicodemus clearly did not understand what the Holy Spirit was nor how to receive it. Nicodemus could not comprehend any of the points in the conversation because he did not have the Holy Spirit to receive and understand the words Jesus was presenting to him. He could not see the Kingdom of God. Furthermore, Jesus tells us in John 3:11, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.” From this we recognize that Nicodemus could not recognize nor understand spiritual things, but also, Nicodemus did not want to believe, his heart was centered in disbelief, he was stubborn!

In John 3 and many other places in the New Testament, it is first required for a person to REPENT, then BE BAPTIZED (fully immersed in water to wash away all previous sins, a symbolic renewal, a new beginning point). Then hands laid upon you as an anointing to receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit. From this point forward, being that the person is really sincere in his heart, the Holy Spirit units with the Spirit in man and begins working with you in your daily life. This is not a quick overnight sudden miracle, but a lifetime process of overcoming your carnal, fleshly and worldly desires. The Apostle Paul explains this in detail in the Book of Romans.

To continue on a little further, “What is Repentance?” A great many people really don’t understand and are mislead in their ideas of what this means and apply it to the meaning “I’M SORRY. But what are you sorry for? Sorry that I made a mistake? Sorry you got in trouble? Sorry you have to live with the mess it made in your life? Sin hurts you and everyone involved with and around you and no matter what, we have to pay the price. True Repentance goes beyond feeling sorry for yourself and wishing you hadn’t done whatever and paid the price for committing the sin, even if you learn your lessons. True Repentance means realizing your act, feeling remorse in your heart and disgust for committing the sin in itself. Further, it recognizes how your actions have not only hurt you, but those around you. Repentance is learning to feel the pain for those you have offended. Repentance in it’s fullest form means WANTING TO CHANGE, and turning away from sin. You make a commitment in your heart and ask God for FORGIVENESS, because you don’t want sin in your life anymore and the consequences that come from it.

Once we repent and ask God for forgiveness, we are now ready for baptism. Baptism is a symbolic demonstration of our willingness to follow through with the desire in our hearts to wash away sin in our lives. God is perfect and without sin. God cannot unite his perfect, sinless spirit with a worldly carnal man full of sin as this would corrupt God himself. When God gives you his Holy Spirit and you receive it, YOU BECOME ONE WITH GOD. Jesus Christ is the Holy Spirit, the Comforter and God himself so loved the world that he himself gave to you,  His “ONLY BEGOTTEN SON”….SO THAT YOU MAY live and RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE. At this point, You become the LIVING TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD and he makes his dwelling place in your body and his Spirit lives within you. We become the Church, the Bride of Christ, Joint living heirs with Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. We become the Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of God. All that God gives to his son, we as the Bride of Christ possess as well.

As baptized living members of the Body of Christ, we are no longer citizens of this world, but are now “Born Again” into the Kingdom of Heaven. We serve Jesus Christ as our King and Savior who now dwells within us and it is his Spirit that begins to change us from within and he becomes our conscious thought, leading us to perfection in him. Satan is the Ruler of this World and the World is Satan’s Kingdom. Satan wants you to hang on to sin as Satan is sin and SIN IS DEATH.

You will see the change in yourself. Your thoughts will change and you will naturally desire to make a change in your life and no one is forcing or telling you what to do. God accepts us as we are and loves us no matter what we have done in the past. No matter what the crime or deed was that previously caused you separation from God, now you are healed. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO BE BORN AGAIN OR BAPTISED, but to just be willing to recognize your sins and sincerely ask for forgiveness. God freely is willing to wash away the sins from the past and see you as a new person and he rejoices for each and every person that willingly turns his heart to him. All he asks is that you will come to him ‘AND HE WILL FIX THE REST.’

One last thing to think about…Remember Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. There were TWO TREES IN THE GARDEN. There was The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of ‘LIFE’. Those two trees represented two distinct rulers, two Kings. Satan’s tree = SIN AND DEATH. God’s Tree = ETERNAL LIFE (Jesus Christ). Adam and Eve made a choice. The Tree of Life was not forbidden to eat of, but the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was forbidden. But, they willingly preferred to eat of the forbidden tree, thus they chose death. Once they did this, God had no choice but to remove them from the garden to prevent them from eating of the Tree of Life and God forbid, live for eternity in a state of sin. Why didn’t they choose the Tree of Life and get the blessing? THE ANSWER, Just plain rebellious and deceived by Satan.

Friends, we are here today at this late hour and once again like Adam and Eve, the choice is set before us….TWO TREES – ONE CHOICE ! Mankind has lived 6,000 years under the curse of Adam and Eve and we have a final choice !

JESUS CHRIST IS THE TREE OF LIFE….DON’T SCREW IT UP!

AMEN

In The Presence of God – Revealing Immanuel

i phone pic 087IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

The Great I AM

Revealing Immanuel

Moses asked God, “When I go back to the children of Israel and say unto them, The God of your father’s has sent me unto you, and they shall say to me, what is his name? What shall I say unto them? “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM. Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me unto you?”

“I AM” … Two very powerful and present words that encompass and expresses the very essence of who God is. He is divine in all things, ever present, all knowing, all being, always has been, and always will be.  Is it a name, or is it a description of his name and who he is? There is no greater in all the universe.

Isaiah 7:14   “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name “Immanuel”.  Lets look a little closer…Im-man-u-el When I look at this word, to me it’s like a visible picture in my mind and what I see is God actually placing himself within man…to be in His presence and living inside of him,  When I read it, to me it means, “IN- MAN –“I” –DWELL.”   God is the author of all things, he created language.  Notice the parallel numeric verses in Isaiah 7:14 and John 1:14. Look at the way the numeric numbers line up between God’s perfect numbers of 7 and 14.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14  “And the Word was made flesh, and “dwelt” among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father.) full of grace and truth.

Where does Jesus actually reside?   John 1:18“The Only begotten Son, which is “IN THE BOSOM” OF THE FATHER.”   What does the word “Bosom” actually mean?  According to Webster’s Dictionary, it means as follows: “The front of the human chest, the female breasts, the seat of secret thoughts and feelings, the part of a garment covering the breast. In the adjective form, meaning “Intimate.” Think about how important this, is for it says in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus was born out of the very heart and chest of God himself, the very part of him that holds his most intimate secret thoughts and feelings. At the very moment his beloved son died on the cross, the earth became black and shuddered with a great earthquake and the temple veil was rent in two…God’s own very inner soul quaked in agony watching his own son take on death and the sins of the world. If God is love, he also knows how to experience pain and agony.   John 14:23  “Jesus answered and said unto him, “If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and WE WILL COME INTO HIM, and make OUR ABODE WITH HIM.”  (Our Abode = to Dwell in Him to Live, just like Jesus resides in the bosom of his Father.)

God created mankind in his image. Adam was formed out of the dust of the ground and his wife, Eve, was made out of the very rib of Adam. The wife of a man comes out of the bosom of a man as well and husband and wife are “One Flesh”…The one-ness is so intimate that God declares that “what-so-ever God has called together, no man can put assunder.” In the same like manner, we as the believers and followers of Jesus Christ become his very own body and the “Bride of Christ”, joint heirs and Son’s of God.
